THE TIMEPIECE ARTISAN CORNER

Gucci is pleased to introduce the Timepiece Artisan Corner which brings the craftsmanship of the House’s watch-making factory to its clientele in the year of its 40th anniversary. The Gucci Timepiece’s most skilled artisans from the workshop in La-Chaux-de-Fonds will travel to selected location where customers can witness first hand the meticulous attention to detail and superb craftsmanship that is involved in the production of every timepiece. The Artisan Corner also includes a traditional watchmaker workbench, a board of raw materials and a glass display of finished products.

The two models showcased are the Bamboo and the 1921 – both prime examples of the handwork required for many of Gucci Timepieces’ watches.

Visitors can touch the soft leather hides used for the ‘1921’ casing and learn about Gucci’s innovative journey with bamboo. They will admire the array of tools, from the beeswax and natural lacquer used on the bamboo bezel to the spools of cotton and selection of needles required to stitch the 1921 casing in place. Clients can interact with the craftsman at work, asking questions, learning about his skills and also purchase the final timepiece assembled during the event.

An accompanying video display will show Gucci’s artisans at work and highlight the manufacturing process, thus enriching the presentation.

The Watch Artisan Corner aims to show how Gucci Timepieces continues to carry on traditional techniques and champion fine workmanship. Visitors and clients can interact with the exhibit and will leave with a powerful sense of having experienced the House’s enduring values.
